Dancer2: session->destroy fails

Hi Calling session->destroy fails with the following. Can't locate object method "destroy" via package "Dancer2::Core::Session" at /srv/web/app/lib/app.pm line 36. config.yml: session: Simple /srv/web/app/lib/app.pm: package app; use Dancer2 ':syntax'; use Dancer2::Plugin::Ajax; use Authen::Simple::Passwd; ... .. get '/logout' => sub { session->destroy; redirect '/login'; } I even tried: my $id = session->id; session->delete($id); but, even though it doesn't throw an error, it doesn't delete the session and other routes are served. So far, at the top of app.pm, I have: hook before => sub { if (request->path_info !~ m{^/login}) { if (session('user') && session('time')) { my $time_now = time; if ($time_now - session('time') < config->{'session_expire'}) { session 'time' => time; } else { return redirect '/logout?msg=session_expired&path=' . request->path_info; } } else { return redirect '/login'; } } }; I'm stumped, as, apart from the above snippet, and the Dancer2 use lines, the app works under Dancer1. Hello I've got stange problem with dancer with twitter boostrap I use use Dancer::Plugin::Database; my $dbh = database({driver => 'mysql', database => 'asav'}); my %allCommandeBNP = database->quick_select('CommandeBNP', {} ); my @allCommandeBNP= %allCommandeBNP; my $allCommandeBNP=@allCommandeBNP; In my mysql table has 36 items and $allCommandeBNP egal 36 I use if (params->{cmd} && params->{cmd} eq 'list') { return template 'template/navbar_login' => { username => params->{username}, password => params->{password}, tab => 3, ccmd => \%allCommandeBNP, show_list => "Liste des N° de commande:", }; } and in my template [% FOREACH s IN ccmd.keys.sort %] [% ccmd.$s.Ckey %]- [% END %] the result is 18 items, one item on two and only even item Liste des N° de commande: 210- 208- 206- 204- 202- 200- 198- 196- 194- 192- 190- 188- 186- 182- 184- 212- 214- 216- On mysql.log with request log activated , request is SELECT * FROM `CommandeBNP` if someone has a idea ?

Pull request and new feature in Dancer2::Test to check routes pod coverage

Hi all, I have a pull request https://github.com/PerlDancer/Dancer2/pull/218waiting to merged it's a fix to "Internal Server Error: Can`t locate object method "new" via package "Dancer2::Handler::File" (perhaps you forgot to load "Dancer2::Handler::File"?) at.. Dancer2/Core/App.pm in sub send_file arround my $file_handler = Dancer2::Handler::File->new" when issued a send_file with route_handlers: {} in config.yml. I also have a new feature in Dancer2::Test to check routes pod coverage, but first I need that pull request to be merged. Can any guys have a look on it. Different INCLUDE_PATH for localized sites

Hi, The http://perl5maven.com/ site is using Dancer and Template::Toolkit. Since the opening of the Brazilian Portuguese translation at http://br.perl5maven.com/ They both run from the same instance of the application. I made some change to accommodate for the multiple language - the source of the pages are in separate directories now, and in the config.yml I have a section with some configuration parameters for each site. The application itself looks at request->host and pick the correct part of the configuration. So far it was good, but there were a few things that were left in English in the Portuguese site, and some things where I had both the English and the Portuguese text in the central template. As I am expecting a few more translations to appear[1] I wanted to split some of the templates too. The problem I found is that I cannot set the INCLUDE_PATH dynamically as I don't seem to have access to the Template::Toolkit object. If I am not mistaken it is located in the $_engine variable in the Dancer::Template::TemplateToolkit module and it is not accessible from the outside world. So what I did was adding the following to the before hook: # Create a new Template::Toolkit object for every call because we cannot access the existing object # and thus we cannot change the include path before rendering my $engines = config->{engines}; $engines->{template_toolkit}{INCLUDE_PATH} = ["$appdir/views", mymaven->{articles} . '/templates']; Dancer::Template::TemplateToolkit->new( name => 'template_toolkit', type => 'template' , config => $engines->{template_toolkit}); This is hacky. It's already done and working, it looks great : http://perlhub.org/ The last comment in the blog post is about including news/others about Dancer/Catalyst/Mojolicious. So here is the question : can we point them to some news/release/posts feed of Dancer, so that they can agregate them ?

Dancer2::Handler:: issues

Hello all, Apologies if this has been raised before. I reckon there is an issue with the way Dancer2::Handler:: objects get incorporated into apps. The current process is: Dancer2::Core::App object is instantiated and its BUILD method gets called. This calls init_route_handlers. init_route_handlers loops through the config route_handlers section and creates an appropriate route handler for each app. This means, for example, the Dancer2::Handler::File object that handles requests to files in the public folder gets added to every app. The effect of this for a non-existent url request 1) Loop through apps (pm files) 2) Find megasplat route for file handler 3) Call before hooks defined in that app! 4) Call Dancer2::Handler::File route 5) Dancer2::Handler::File doesn’t find file, so it ‘passes’ on to the next route. 6) Go to next app. Whilst this is certainly inefficient, my primary concern is that the before hooks gets called for every single app when you expect before hooks to only apply to the routes that you defined in the same app/perl module as the before hook. Having before hooks apply to routes that you did not define is very confusing. I’d suggest that the Dancer2 Handlers either get added to their own private Dancer2::Core::App object or to a single ‘handler app’. Dancer2::Runner would therefore loop through the (default) handlers and add them to specific app objects. I can’t currently see a use case where you’d want the same route handler to appear in every app, although potentially the route handler could define the route based off something in the config, which in theory could be different for each app/pm file. 2-3 questions then arise: 1) How does Dancer2::Runner handle these. A separate app for each handler? 2) If you do want a before hook to apply, how do you apply one. 3) If for some reason that I can’t see, you do want a handler to create a route in each app, how do you declare that? (some sort of app_route_handler config key?) I am happy to implement these changes and raise a github issue/pull request if the core developers agree with me. You can of course avoid before hooks firing by turning off the default route_handlers with a “route_handler: {}” line in config.yml, but that is super confusing and causes other issues. - shumphrey

Dancer2 version of dancer script?

Hi, I'm just getting my feet wet with Dancer. I started out with Dancer(1) using the 'dancer' script on CPAN to jumpstart a new app. Now I'm looking at Dancer2, and I'm looking for a similar script to jumpstart a new app. I found App::Dancer2 which include includes a dancer2 script. I thought it might be the jumpstart script I'm looking for, but now I'm not so sure. Reading the source, it appears to fetch https://github.com/PerlDancer/Dancer2/archive/master.zip for each app, which isn't really what I want. So my question: is there a dancer2 script that's equivalent to the dancer script for Dancer(1)? Is the App::Dancer2 dancer2 script intended to be that? Thanks much, Brad

Dancer2 pull-requests policy

Could we make it a policy to respond to every pull request made to the Dancer2 code base? I have 3 unmerged pull requests there, from 17, 22, and 25 days ago. I would like to know if I'm doing something wrong, or whether I'm just being ignored together with everyone else. I would like to know that for every pull request I make, both the past and the ones I will make in the future. Therefore I would like it to become a policy, that Dancer2 maintainers view and respond (positively, or negatively with an explanation) to every one of our pull requests. Thanks,

Forms in Dancer 2

Hi. I'm somewhat further in my Dancer2 app. Now I'm curious what is the easiest/recommended way to handle forms ? What I need (now) is to have a form with a table (not in the sence of a database table) where a user can dynamically add (and delete) rows. The data is _not_ directly related to a database table. This is an app for entreprise usage, meaning it must be 'solid' but 'beautiful' is really not near a top requirement. thanks -- erik

Using TT filters from Perl

Hi, dancers. I'm wondering what the best way is to use Template Toolkit filters from Perl, such as my route subs. I got to it this way through TT directly: my ($filter_html) = Template::Filters->new->fetch('html'); but wonder if there's a better way through the Dancer plugin so I don't have to instantiate the Template::Filters object separately.
