Just a reminder, that I have two pull requests sitting: #200 changes the way cookies are handled by the developer, according to the wishes of dagolden in one of his documents. It looks pretty important to me to deal with as soon as possible, since it will break backwards compatibility and so it's best to affect as few people as possible. #211 allows you to set the "views" directory somewhere else, in accordance with D2 documentation. This is also important, as it will let the front-end developer upload his stuff without affecting your (the back-end developer's) stuff. I guess there could be other ways to achieve this same benefit, but this looks like the most straightforward and easy-to-figure one. In the last of bigpresh's session of looking-at-pull-requests two weeks ago, this pull request was accidentally overlooked.

Question - par & dancer & strawberry perl (5.14)

Hi there, I want to write a simple dancer application, and distribute it as a par executable. (Dancer would be in stand alone server mode.) So I run dancer - A Sample to create a sample application. I run in bin/app.pl in strawberry perl, and browse to localhost:3000, I get the expected "it works" index page. I update the MANIFEST file from .\MANIFEST to ./MANIFEST for par to include the various directories. When I build the par executable, I'm using the following syntax: pp ./bin/app.pl -A MANIFIEST -M Dancer::Handler::Standalone However, when I execute a.exe, and I browse to localhost:3000 , I get a 500 error message instead of the expected index page. (I also tried cygwin perl, but PAR::Packer died when attempting to install, which is a known bug.) Is there an existing cookbook way of using par & dancer so that it would not have the 500 error message? The reason why I'm doing it this way (and not deploying to a web server), is because I don't have access to the remote server... I only know it's windows of some sort, and I need to have as few dependencies as possible. A stand alone exe is ok. Thanks in advance for any advice. Zak

Anyone who deal with Dancer deployment can use it as follow: psgi_application 'my application' do application_user 'user' application_home '/home/user/app/MyApplication' script '/home/user/app/MyApplication/scripts/my-dancer-app.psgi' operator 'Dancer' action 'install' end This code will install dancer psgi application init script ready to use. Running bin/app.pl with cleaner %ENV

Hello, I am playing with Dancer on my hobby project. On my hobby Debian Wheezy VPS. Now during development, of course I thousand times start and stop bin/app.pl just as it is described in the Quick Start. As real_me@here. Now set aside that this is not very good from security point (clean unprivileged user would be better), other thing that bothers me is extremely polluted %ENV---I like to inspect this variable from time to time and I'm definitely not interested in TERMCAP and LS_COLORS :) What is the correct way to run it? I have tried creating new (--system) user and suid-ing, but at this point * perl refused to run app.pl until I removed the env part. from the shebang line (i.e. `#!/usr/bin/perl` instead of `#!/usr/bin/env perl` * %ENV was polluted anyway I'm not the Linux pro as I would like to be, so maybe the above are not problems specific to Dancer. However, I think I got the message correctly that I was headed incorrect way. And since I was not able to find it in doc (sorry if I just suck at it), I thought asking would not hurt. So: What would be The Right Way of stop/running bin/app.pl thousand times a day (read: easily), provided I'm at a wild development stage? Thanks, aL. -- Alois Mahdal

"Download" button on dancer site overlaps page content

Am I the only one who sees the big black download button overlap with some of the slides that appear on the slideshow in that page? Please fix, this bug decreases user adoption.

Better Solution ?

Session request crashed (using Dancer::Session::Memcached)

Hi everyone I've reverted my app mentioned in my previous post from Dancer2 back to Dancer 1.3111. This time, an error is shown, but I have no clue what the problem is. [hit #2]request to GET /panel/login crashed: Can't call method "id" without a package or object reference at /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.12.3/Dancer/Session.pm line 36, <DATA> line 16. in /usr/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.12.3/Dancer/Handler.pm l. 98 This app works without error using the Simple, YAML and JSON session engines, but fails with Memcached. I know the Memcached instance is working as per my previous post, as accessing it with a regular perl script using Cache::Memcached works. It seems either something's amiss with my Memcached instance, which the test script doesn't pick up, or there's a bug in Dancer::Session::Memcached? Any pointers would be appreciated. Dancer2::Session::Memcached with Tokyo Cabinet/Tyrant not working

Hi all I converted my Dancer app to Dancer2 and have no issues when using Dancer2::Session::Simple. Sessions persist across routes. However, on switching to Dancer2::Session::Memcached, after setting the session via the /login route, it's not accessible via another route. I know that the Memcached instance is functional, having tested it using a regular Perl script with Cache::Memcached. Any ideas? I don't see any errors from Dancer.
