Hi All Just wanted to say a big thank you to you all. We started a major development of a multi-tenanted enterprise app last April. We have just gone live with our first phase and first client. Dancer has been a real pleasure to work with. We still get weird looks when we have to explain the use of perl in an enterprise application - but the results speak for themselves! Thx all Z

Suggesting plugin name Dancer2::Plugin::Swagger2

Hello Dancer folks, I've written a plugin for Dancer2 for my current client and as soon as I get the written permission I'm ready to upload it to CPAN. It will be my first CPAN module, by the way. The plugin enables the user to provide a Swagger2 file which specifies a web API including its paths and parameters. For all paths and HTTP methods a route is created automatically and connected to a controller method. The method might be defined with a predictable name in a certain namespace or might be provided from a callback. Now my question is whether you have any remarks on the name of the module. I developed it as Dancer2::Plugin::Swagger2. You'll find that Dancer::Plugin::Swagger [1] exists and goes the opposite way: Generate a Swagger spec from the Dancer app. Also there is Mojolicious::Plugin::Swagger2 [2], a plugin similar to mine that provides route autogeneration for a different web framework that you might have heard of, Mojolicious;-) I hope to get permission by Monday and see my module on CPAN before the German Perl Workshop next week. So what do you think about the name? Calling CGI Script From Dancer Application

I have a need to call a CGI script that resides in cgi-bin from a Dancer application. My CGI application is simple: use CGI; use JSON; my $cgi = new CGI(); print $cgi->header(); # Get the CSRF Token fnd the user rom cookie my $CSRFToken = `/apps/www/cgi-bin/rsacookie -g -CSRFToken`; my $user = `/apps/www/cgi-bin/rsacookie -g -user`; my %rec_hash = ('token'=>$CSRFToken, 'user'=>$user ); my $json = encode_json \%rec_hash; print $json; The rsacookie is a binary that reads a client side cookie from an authenticated user. The Dancer application is secured by RSA's web agent. The agent writes a cookie that can only be read by the rsacookie applet. Once I authenticate with the agent, the above script works when called from the cgi-bin directory in a different browser tab/window, however when I call the script from within Dancer the rsacookie applet cannot find a valid cookie. Since the rsacookie applet requires to be ran in the CGI environment, how can I call it from Dancer and maintain the CGI env? My dancer app is deployed with Plack/PSGI. Thanks. Brent

Again: Scope of 'hook before'

Still looking for an answer as to the scope of a 'hook before'. Does it affect all of the routes or just the routes within a 'prefix'. My understanding is that Dancer2 does away with the globals found in Dancer thus I would expect that a 'hook before' within a 'prefix' would remain within the scope of the 'prefix' and not flow outside of it into the other routes. But this is not what I find thus I am curious as to if I am doing something wrong or have my concept wrong. Thanks, -- Rick ---- Original message ---- Hello. New Dancer2 user here. redirects with SSL

Hi We have an issue that is not actually a dancer problem but hoping there is a config that dancer has. Our systems sit behind a load balancer which off-loads SSL, so dancer only ever sees http connections. It mostly does not matter as the load balancer handles the reverse. However using the built in redirect is the issue as dancer only knows that the connection (inside the network) is http. It is not aware that it actually is https. So the redirect header of course sends out an http link. Is there any way to configure this so it is made aware of the fact that it needs to be https? Z

set vs var

I’m using D1, and have a before hook that sets a var with a payload of session/client-specific values. This works well when running D1 normally as a web app. However there are a few tasks that need to run via a daily cron job, for which I load D1 manually. In those cases I lose the vars setting, even if I set them manually, knowing the hook does not execute. The following snippet: use strict; use Dancer ':syntax'; Dancer::Config::setting('appdir', '/home/s1/www/'); Dancer::Config::setting('views', '/home/s1/www/views'); config->{'environment'} = 'development'; Dancer::Config::load(); var hello => "hi, I used var"; set hello => "hi, I used set"; print template('test', {}); # uses Template Toolkit with the following template test.tt: Hello using vars = <% vars.hello %> Hello using settings = <% settings.hello %> yields: Hello using vars = Hello using settings = hi, I used set In this case, ‘vars’ is not passed on to Template Tookit, whereas ‘settings’ is. If I had run this within a normal D1 route, ‘vars’ would have been passed. So it appears I need to refactor the entire (large) application to use “set” and not “var”. Is this correct? Why isn’t “var” the correct option here? Or if it is, what am I doing wrong? Thx in advance! Hermann

Dancer1 dev release 1.3300 released - new stable release expected soon

Hi all, I've just pushed a new dev release of Dancer 1 to CPAN, version 1.3300. It contains an assortment of bug fixes and minor improvements - changelog below for convenience. If you use Dancer1, please consider testing your code using this version, and do let me know if it breaks anything for you. Assuming nobody screams and the CPAN Testers results look good, I plan to push out a new stable release later this week. New session on reload using Apache CGI

Hi, I was just doing some testing deploying a Dancer2 app under Apache using CGI. For some reason I get a new session each time the page reloads, does anyone know why? It works fine with plackup. I am using AMPPS so it could just be something screwy with my config.
