Can I convert App::Notifier::Service from Dancer 1 to Dancer2?

Hi all, Is there a good reason why I should *not* convert https://metacpan.org/pod/App::Notifier::Service from Dancer 1 to Dancer2? It's a simple web app, meant to run synchronously, and I can debug it by using perl -d, and last time I tried doing s/Dancer/Dancer2/g everything worked nicely. Is there a good enough reason to stay with Dancer 1? Dancer::Plugin::Database - unable to open database

hello Dancers, I’m trying to use Dancer::Plugin::Database. The database is a sqlite-file that only serves as datafile so I’m not writing to the database in my app. If I run my app on the server with the command ‘perl bin/app.pl’ everything works just fine. All data is shown on the pages as expected. If, however I startup the app while making use of Starman (I took guidance of the article on the perlmaven site) I get the message that the app is unable to open the database. Up until now I worked around the problem to store all my data in json-files and create multiple ‘selection/sorts’ by using hashes and arrays but that is becoming a bit difficult to maintain. The error log gives two lines DBI connect('dbname=all.sqlite','',...) failed: unable to open database file at /home/gertmt/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.20.0/lib/site_perl/5.20.0/Dancer/Plugin/Database/Core.pm line 259. Database connection failed - unable to open database file in /home/gertmt/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.20.0/lib/site_perl/5.20.0/Dancer/Plugin/Database.pm l. 28 these might explain the problem however I have no idea where to start. Is there someone who had to deal with this issue? Thanks, Gert

Behind proxy sometimes

Hi, Long story, but I’m using a config where I’m connecting to the Plackup instance through an SSH tunnel. The users I’m developing for will connect through an Apache reverse proxy to the same environment. Anyhow, the behind_proxy setting was causing my SSH tunnel session to barf on splitting an uninitialised variable. Proposal: Tutu, a flat-file Dancer-based CMS

Dear Dancers, I've evolved a simple CMS for my own purposes, taking some cues from blosxom, which was my first experience with a web framework. I'm curious if any of you think there would be value in having a more complete example Dancer app available. The current design has these main features. * flat file design, no database * user login * simple access control based on two text files + access: username dir1 dir2 dir3... + restricted_dirs: dira dirb dirc... * Markdown-format pages in $root_dir/pages * generates directory listings for files in $root_dir/public I already created a perl module for the app, which includes scripts to generate the passwd file and the directory listings. I'd need to do a bit more work to create a generate app dir with default pages and provide enough documentation to get started. I'm wondering if you all think this field is saturated already, or if it might contribute to Dancer adoption to have a file-based CMS available as an sample app. I think it might help newcomers to Dancer to have a full-function app because despite generally excellent documentation, I found it did take me quite a bit of trial and error to get the necessary bells to ring and the whistles to blow. Perhaps there are other Dancer-based apps that are more sophisticated or complete, and would be better suited. Will appreciate any of your ideas, with my regards, Joel Roth --

Very cool. I will look into that CMS. The last two big projects I have worked on did all the APIs in Dancer, but we used Drupal for the CMS. about send_error message

Hello, For send_error function, for example, get '/' => sub { # template 'index'; send_error("Not authorized", 401); }; When running with bin/app.pl directly, the message "Not authorized" can be displayed in the web. But if I run it with starman: plackup -E deployment -s Starman --workers=10 -l 0.0.0.0:3000 -D --access-log=logs/access.log -a bin/app.pl This error message seems lost. Do you know how to fix up it? b/c I wrote the API with dancer, I need to tell the clients what are the errors. Thanks.

Dancer1 v1.3124 on its way to CPAN

Lock session files with Dancer2::Session::YAML?

Is it possible to lock session files created by Dancer2::Session::YAML in order to avoid race conditions when two processes try to write to the same session at the same time? For example, if I have the following routes: get '/foo' => sub { my $foo = session 'foo'; session 'foo' => ++$foo; }; get '/bar' => sub { my $bar = session 'bar'; session 'bar' => ++$bar; }; and both are called at the same time, one route "wins", resulting in either the value of 'foo' or 'bar' being updated, but not both. If it's not possible (or easy) to lock the file, I would be open to an alternative storage backend, although I was hoping to keep things as simple as possible, i.e. I don't want to have to spin up a new MySQL database or equivalent. The existing Dancer2::Session:: backends all seem somewhat...involved. Any ideas?
