OK...

the new Dell laptop with Vista, apparently faced with installing 
a a large graphic pack [serif] has retreated into DOS.   It 
opened in DOS after shutdown and start.

DOS is so far not my forte that I am lost to offer advice or help 
and finding my way to anything relevant on MS's site is too 
painful already!

Adivce, directions, thoughts...
