[dancer-users] Using auto_page - is there a canonical way to indicate the index page and handle missing 'templates'

Hi All,
I imagine this might be a typical use case - retro-fitting login and
dynamic personalization features to what was a sizeable static-site,
originally created and still maintained using a CMS. Content editors
use the CMS as normal to create and edit their content, except that
the HTML files are now .tt files with some added template toolkit
directives. There's no Dancer layout as page assembly is still
handled by the CMS.
In this scenario, utilizing auto_page, is there a recommended Dancer2
best practice for returning index.tt or a 404 under *all* the
situations under which it should be returned given an arbitrarialy
deep directory structure?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Peter
