Hi, As discussed at YAPC::EU 2012, there will be a Quack and Hack in december 2012. It'll be in Paris, organised by fellow French Perl Mongers colleagues. So I thought it would be handy and easy to (ab-) use this event to organize a Dancer hackathon as part of Quack and Hack 2012. Deployment for dotgeek free dancer hosting: Plack::Handler::Apache2

Hello ! Thanks to the news on hackernews many users subscribed for the free dancer hosting at http://1.ai as you know we are using Plack::Handler::Apache2 to deploy at the moment. I understand that this doesn't load the dancer app in memory hence is not the ideal deployment solution. Would a reverse proxy with starman or the default web server that comes with dancer be a better option ? Is this what dotcloud and other services are using ? Thanks for letting me know David

Free Dancer Hosting now available @ dotgeek

Hello ! We have finalised the free hosting service at http://1.ai with dancer support (in addition to ruby and PHP). The server uses SSD drives and is in a good datacenter with a very fast connection. Each user has also a MySQL database in addition to Sqlite and any other file based database that you can load in your space via SFTP. New users will have both http://yourname.dotgeek.org and http://yourname.1.ai sub domains. The invitation key is no longer needed so if someone feels like trying it out it can simply mention the dancer mailing list in the "about you" field and I will the request. sample dancer apps running on the server http://gordon.dotgeek.org http://dancer.1.ai I welcome your feedback to improve the service. Dancer team to join Flattr?

Hi, I recently subscribed to Flattr, which is more or less a way of simplifying donations in the Internet. They automated the process of donating through GitHub, which more or less means that it's straightforward to go on a GitHub project and donate something. If the Dancer Team is willing to join Flattr, it should be easy to connect to the Dancer project and increase the possibility to receive something. Cheers, Flavio.

Cloning vars in Template::Abstract breaks Plugin::DBIC

Hi all, We're using Dancer 1.3100 and Plugin::DBIC however if we call a method on a DBIx::Class object that then makes a request from within the templates we get the following error: <DBIX::Class object->call()>: DBI _new_sth: DBI::db=HASH(0x7283538) has no ImplementorClass at /opt/perl-5.12.3/lib/site_perl/5.12.3/x86_64-linux-ld/DBD/mysql.pm line 230 This can be fixed with the attached patch, basically not using cloning on vars. Do vars need to be cloned? are they not per request anyway? Thanks Alex

This is a new runtime error that I am encountering, and I don't even know where to begin to debug this. The only thing different I am doing is that I had to reinstall Perl (and all of Dancer packages) when I upgraded to Mountain Lion. Suggestions? Oh, and the app runs fine a couple of three times of refreshing the browser, and then boom!
