Plugin for authentication/authorization?

Hi All, I see on CPAN that there's Dancer::Plugin::Auth::RBAC - the code seems to be from Al Newkirk, but the distro is from XSAWYERX. On Github there's Dancer::Plugin::Authorize, again from Al Newkirk, which has been deprecated in favor of DPA::RBAC, and Dancer::Plugin::Auth::RBAC from PerlDancer, which seems quite outdated with respect to its CPAN counterpart. I'd like to contribute and I'd avoid forking to a brand new project... do you know whether it is possible somewhere? Cheers, Flavio.

FOSDEM Perl dev-room

Hello, fellow Dancers! Last year I visited FOSDEM for the first time with Jure, my colleague from Ljubljana. We listened to a number of great talks, especially the furious praise of Dancer delivered by Sawyer. Now the call for speakers 2012 is out: http://nxadm.wordpress.com/2011/12/21/perlfosdem2012-cfs/ I'm wondering whether any Dancer people are going to next year's FOSDEM, so we can coordinate talks for the dev-room. There should be a least one Dancer talk there - maybe about Dancer 2? My plan is to go there and deliver my "Modern PerlCommerce" presentation, which I also submitted for Perl Oasis (http://www.perloasis.info/opw2012/) Perl Workshop Israel (http://act.perl.org.il/ilpw2012/) and going to submit for the German Perl Workshop (http://conferences.yapceurope.org/gpw2012/) Needless to say that this project is based on Dancer :-). template() behaviour change in 1.3090 (immediately returning)

Hi all, Starting a new thread for visibility rather than responding in the "bug with multiple "template" calls ?" thread. In 1.3090, template() (and some other keywords, e.g. pass(), halt() etc) now immediately halt execution of the route handler. This made perfect sense for the other keywords affected, but for template(), it seems plenty of people are using template() in undocumented (but not incorrect) ways to generate emails etc, rather than intending the return value of template to be returned by their route handler immediately. Since this is causing problems for people, we're going to reverse this change, better document the behaviour and usage of the template keyword, and get a new release out ASAP. bug with multiple "template" calls ?

Hello, In my dancer application, I'm using "template" to create documents that are not necessarily displayed as HTML (they are message bodies that will be sent with Dancer::Plugin::Email). I have one (or more) calls to "template" to create the email text. and the last "template" creates the HTML page. Conceptual example: ==== get "/hello" => sub { my $name = params->{name}; my $email = params->{email}; ## Email to be sent to the user, NOT rendered as HTML. my $msg = template("email_body", { name => $name }, { layout => undef } ) ; my $subject = template("email_subject", { name => $name }, { layout => undef } ) ; email { message => $msg, subject => $subject, to => $email } ; ## The welcome page, sent back to the user return template("welcome", { name => $name, email => $email } ) ; } ===== With Dancer version 1.3079_3, it worked perfectly. After upgrading to 1.3090, the result of the first template is always returned to the user - what changed ? any ideas/suggestions are welcomed. Thanks, -gordon

prefix + uri_for - not working

Hi, I'm using uri_for()/uri_base() in my code, and I've noticed sadly that they ignore the "prefix" settings. While changing this in Dancer1 will wreak havoc :), perhaps this can be improved in Dancer2 ? Simple Example: ====== package uri_for_test; use Dancer ':syntax'; our $VERSION = '0.1'; get '/' => sub { my $url_base = request->uri_base; my $url = request->uri_for("/verify"); print STDERR "URL = $url\n"; print STDERR "URL-BASE = $url_base\n"; template 'index'; }; true; ====== Running it (with ./bin/app.pl) prints (as expected): ====== >> Dancer 1.3090 server 28846 listening on http://0.0.0.0:3000 == Entering the development dance floor ... URL-BASE = http://localhost:3000 URL = http://localhost:3000/verify ====== Then, adding just the "prefix" statement before the "get": === prefix "/foo" ; === Makes the application respond to "http://localhost:3000/foo", but the printed output is still: === URL-BASE = http://localhost:3000 URL = http://localhost:3000/verify === Whereas I would expect it to be: === URL-BASE = http://localhost:3000/foo URL = http://localhost:3000/foo/verify === This makes the "prefix" statement only partially useful, because changing prefix of an entire application/module still requires manually changing all the "uri_for/uri_base" calls. Hooks for Dancer::Continuation::* ???

Good day! I used Dancer of 1.3080 & 1.3090 branches In my routes i use setlocale for changing locales I did a following for example: hook 'before' => sub { $oldLocale = setlocale(LC_ALL); setlocale(LC_ALL, 'ru_RU.UTF-8'); } hook 'after' => sub { setlocale(LC_ALL, $oldLocale); }; And in my routes i use send_error(); send_error throws an continuation exception and my after hook doesn't finish. The on_handler_exception & on_route_exception will not help because their for non continuation exceptions as i understand by view sources. After requests with send_error() i have an other locale for Starman + Dancer process when request in finished. It's bad for me because 1) I want to restore ALWAYS my previous locale AFTER ANY ROUTE; 2) And for other locales i got other number formats in HTTP response headers for example I didn't find any hooks for continuation exceptions. How can i execute my subroutine ALWAYS when any route has finished? Even i use a send_error()... Alexey

send_error requiring return

Hello, After reading the documentation on the 'send_error' function (https://metacpan.org/module/Dancer#send_error) I expected it to work without needing a return: i.e. get '/route1' => sub { send_error "route1 error"; return "value from route1"; }; but I found that i need to use a return with it, like: get '/route2' => sub { return send_error "route2 error"; return "value from route2"; }; Is this an error in documentation, my understanding of documentation or a bug with the software (if so I'll open a bug with test case). I'm using Dancer 1.3080 and I was able to replicate this in the dancer test suite with a new test case. Thanks, Lee

Exception handling

Hi, i'm following http://advent.perldancer.org/2011/6 but i'm a bit confussed, Dancer::Exceptions didn't have "register_exception" neither "does" defined. Also, the documentation at CPAN says "exceptions have no method to call on" I'm using Dancer 1.3080 and I would like to do something like this: register_custom_exception('Test', message_pattern => "Test message: %s" ); ----- use Test::More import => ['!pass'], tests => 1; use Dancer::Exception qw(:all); try { raise Test => "Error!"; } catch { my ($exception) = @_; ok($exception->does('Test'),"Exception"); }; Thanks in advance Angel
