Proposed plugin Dancer2::Plugin::RootURIFor

Hey all, Following some discussion on #dancer today, I have a couple of questions. Firstly, before I go ahead and wrap this in tests and CPAN-ify it, does it seem useful? Dancer2::Plugin::RootURIFor provides root_uri_for, which is the same as uri_for except it ignores your application's mount point / base path. The use-case for this is if you have multiple applications and would like to construct links between them (or to other resources) which retain URI scheme, host, port etc. e.g. You have two apps, mounted on /app1 and /app2. Calling: uri_for '/app2' ...from app1 will give you 'http://.../app1/app2'. Calling: root_uri_for '/app2' ...from app1 will give you 'http://.../app2'. Migrating from dancer to dancer2

Dear all, I'm in the process of migrating and cleaning an app using dancer to dancer2 I've almost everything working and covered, including splitting the big monolithic app into several dancer2 apps using Plack::Builder like this: return builder { mount '/app1' => My::App1->to_app; mount '/app2' => My::App2->to_app; } The only problem I'm not able to solve is this one: # HOOKS (executed BEFORE and AFTER each route) hook before => sub { $memd->incr( "stats.api." . request->{_route_pattern} . "." . request->{method} ); }; hook after => sub { my $response = shift; $memd->incr( "stats.api." . request->{_route_pattern} . "." . request->{method} . "." . $response->status ); }; We use hooks to store some statistics in memcached. The problem is that I can't find a way to substitute request->{_route_pattern} to get the route handler used For the method I found I can use request->method and, as I'm mounting the app using Plack::Builder, I can get the base of the url with request->base. The idea is, having a request like this: GET http://localhost:3000/app1/123456 and a route handler like: get ':userid' => sub {...} we should increment the value of this key in memcached: stats.api./app1/:userid.GET so, my question is how to get the '/:userid' part in the hook to compose the key I need to increment in memcached. Dancer training at YAPC::NA

JSON serializer, returning object instances form route handlers, convert_blessed

Hey all, Usually in instances like this, I assume I am doing something wrong and am curious to know what it is... I would expect to be able to return any instance which implements TO_JSON directly from my route handler and have the JSON serializer (configured with convert_blessed => 1) pull its data from that method. This test app demonstrates what I am doing, I think. Visiting '/' gives me (pretty, demonstrating the config is read) JSON output. Visiting '/object' results in: Route exception: Unrecognized response type from route: AnObject. in ....perl5/lib/perl5/Return/MultiLevel.pm l. 97 package JsonTest; use Dancer2; set engines => { serializer => { JSON => { convert_blessed => 1, pretty => 1, } } }; set serializer => 'JSON'; get '/' => sub { { key => 'value', 'key2' => 'value2' }; }; get '/object' => sub { AnObject->new; }; package AnObject { use Moo; sub TO_JSON { { is => ref shift }; } } 1; I can, of course, call to_json/from_json with the appropriate options / headers myself (this works), but would like to take advantage of the convenience of the serializer. Session Management with memcached in Dancer1

Hello All, I am trying to learn session management in Dancer. I have consulted Dancer::Session documentation for the same. The document recommends to use memcached server for production and YAML or Simple for development. My question is specifically related to memcached server. Do I need to setup the memcached server on the system before using Dancer::Session::Memcached? Also, what does this "/var/sock/memcached" mean in the Dancer::Session::Memcached documentation (I believe it is the default location of memcached server after installation on local system)? I am sorry if my question is to silly. But I am trying to understand the right procedure. Thanks for the help. Best, Tushar Dave

About template and main layout

Hi All, Because I am new at Dancer, I may be asking easy questions, sorry for this issue. But I tried a very very simple example and it failed!. Its content is below : *MyApp/views/layouts/main.tt <http://main.tt><!doctype html><html><head> <title>Test</title></head><body> <div> Before content [% content %] </div></body></html>* I expect to see yellow backgrounded word *"Before content"* but I don't see. About Route Handlers

Hi All, I am novice at Dancer, I am sure my question is very easy for you but I decided to ask because I failed at the beginning of my study. I started reading following manual : *https://metacpan.org/pod/Dancer2::Manual <https://metacpan.org/pod/Dancer2::Manual>* I installed Dancer2, placked up it and opened web page from localhost. Everything is OK until here. There is following info at manual: *The code block given to the route handler has to return a string which will be used as the content to render to the client.* It is clear for following example *get '/test1/:name' => sub { return "Hi there " . params->{name};};* because it returns a string and when I write *http://localhost:5000/test1/kadir <http://localhost:5000/test1/kadir> *to browser I see *Hi there kadir* which is the string I expect to see But next example is as follow: *get '/test2/:name' => sub { "Hey ".param('name').", welcome here!";};* It does not return anything. Because there is no *return* keyword *.* Despite this I see *Hi there kadir *when I write *http://localhost:5000/test2/kadir <http://localhost:5000/test2/kadir>* But above red background colored sentence says that it must return a value *?* Next example is stranger *:get '/test3/:name' => sub { "Hello there, " . defined param('name') ? param('name') : "whoever you are!";};* Again there is no *return* keyword. When I write *http://localhost:5000/test3/kadir <http://localhost:5000/test3/kadir> *I see only kadir. But at test2 example, I saw all words despite there is no return keyword. Perl::Dancer Conference 2015

Hello Dancers, we are doing it again :-). Last year we had a lot of fun and amazing talks and trainings at the Perl::Dancer Conference 2014 in Hancock / NY (http://act.perl.dance/eic2014/) This year we are switching the location to Vienna, the very attractive capital of Austria. The conference is planned to have 1-2 days of training and 2 days of presentations. The dates are (still tentative) 19th-22th October. You can expect to meet some Dancer / Perl / Open Source luminaries at this event.
