setting confdir and environments problem

I've been checking out Dancer and the flexibility of reorganizing the directory structure of an app is great; however, I'm not sure I'm doing it right for confdir. I have an app named Alpha-Beta. If I do $ export DANCER_CONFDIR=/Users/ted/tmp/tmp/Alpha-Beta/etc $ bin/app.pl then the file /Users/ted/tmp/tmp/Alpha-Beta/etc/config.yml is found but the file /Users/ted/tmp/tmp/Alpha-Beta/etc/environments/development.yml is not found. When I look in Dancer/Config.pm I see the following code sub environment_file { my $env = setting('environment'); return path(setting('appdir'), 'environments', "$env.yml"); } Should it be the following? sub environment_file { my $env = setting('environment'); return path(setting('confdir') || setting('appdir'), 'environments', "$env.yml"); } Thanks. Dancer::Session::YAML initialises sessions dir for every new session

Just a passing comment as I only use this module for testing purposes... POLL - Hierachical config settings - preferred implementation?

Evening all, Pull request 459[1] by ambs introduces support for hierachical setting via the 'set' keyword, for instance, to have the same effect as the following in config.yml: engines: simple: extension: tt ... you'd be able to use: set 'engines/simple/extension' => 'tt'; There's been some discussion on whether this is the best way to do it, and the other suggestion is to use a hashref in Moose-ish fashion, e.g.: set engines => { +simple => { +extension => 'tt' } }; So, the question is, which do you prefer? Dancer hackaton during FPW

Hi everybody The French Perl Workshop will be held in Paris this summer (24th and 25th of June). This event is free, it's in the beautiful city of Paris, so you have no excuse to not come! Dancer::Config Hooks - Need advice before creating PR

Hello is there any rewrite taking place on Dancer::Config? if not, I think a change is needed on hooks, but has it changes a relative amount of lines, I prefer to discuss it before. at the moment we have hooks for setting names. Given a name, we find out what hook to run. but we might have different settings needing the same hook to be run (charset needs to restart Template engine, for example, that is also run when the setting "template" is run). also, I think it is possible for some settings to have more than one hook that should be run (no example atm). my change proposal: 1. create an hash that maps attribute names to a list of hook names; 2. use the current hash of hooks, but not consider it maps settings into hooks, but hook names into hooks. 3. 'set' will create a list of all hooks that need to be run for all settings that are been changed (as we now can change more than one at once) 4. the hooks are all run I know this creates an indirection level, but it seems more clear and versatile for the future. /me waits to devels to agree :) Cheers ambs

Controlling Session expire time

When I use Dancer::Session::YAML to create a session, the session cookie is set to expire when the browser closes. Is there a way for me to set an expire time for the session cookie? I looked in Dancer::Session, Dancer::Session::YAML, Dancer::Cookbook, and Dancer::Session::Abstract but didn't see anything (maybe I missed it). Thanks, Brian

I'm reading "Running multiple apps with Plack::Builder" in Dancer::Deployment. There is sample code: load_app 'MyApp1', 'MyApp2'; [...] my $app1 = sub { my $env = shift; my $request = Dancer::Request->new( $env ); Dancer->dance( $request ); }; my $app2 = sub { my $env = shift; my $request = Dancer::Request->new( $env ); Dancer->dance( $request ); }; but this two subs are identical, how Plack::Builder will know which one is which? IF statement issues in template

Curious if anyone's run into this.. I have an IF statement in a template, like so: [% IF blah %] show this [% END %] I'm using template::toolkit (not template::simple) like so: set template => 'template_toolkit'; template 'index' => { form => $form, var1 => $var1, var2 => $var2, var3 => $var3, }; When I load it all up in the browser, the IF statement doesn't work (is ignored), and the "show this" is displayed, even though "blah" doesn't exit. What am I doing wrong? Is it my lack of TT knowledge, or something I've done incorrectly in my Dancer config? Thanks, -Bobby

Need help in understanding the role of taint handling in Dancer

Hi, I am in the process of writing a Dancer application that does (in part) some heavy lifting of PKI (RSA) [en|de]cryption using Crypt::OpenSSL::RSA and a few other Crypt::* modules and have been hit with an issue that I do not fully understand. Here is a rough sequence of what happens: 1. I have written a Moose based class that does PKI stuff. One of the the methods in this class is encrypting binary strings using a Public Key. The Public Key is read from a file on disk. 2. When I run a test script with this class, the encryption works fine. 3. When I run the same script as a route handler in Dancer the encryption silently produces the wrong result - decrypting it does not give me the original string. 4. Testing is a bit hard and complicated due to the fact that RSA encryption is not deterministic and encrypting the same string twice will give wildly different strings but decrypting both should correctly give the original string. However after a few days of trying out multiple test code - I am reasonably certain that *encryption with Crypt::OpenSSL::RSA gives the correct result from the command line but gives the wrong result when run as a Dance route handler*.I am currently working around this by doing the encryption through a script on disk which the route handler runs - but this is obviously too silly for words. The only thing I can attribute this to is that my input string collected from a form and/or my public key object which I read from file are marked as tainted in Dancer but not in a command line script and that Crypt::OpenSSL::RSA has a bug when used with tainted variables. This is a conjecture but the only one that seems likely given the large amount of testing that I have done. With this background here are a couple of questions that I have: 1. Does Dancer taint input variables received from the user(-form)? 2. If yes, how do I untaint it. 3. How can I conclusively confirm that taintedness is causing the difference in output between the command line script and the route handler. With identical inputs to my command line script and to my route handler I am certain that there is a difference in output. I am wondering if taintedness is the cause. Dancer::Plugin::Auth::RBAC Application

Hi, I'm startirng to create a new web application, my first dancer's one. I'm testing the RBAC plugin. I've found a problem that I can't solve. When I try to use a function to check the status of the login, in example to check if a user has admin role or to revoke its permissions.
