prefix + uri_for - not working

Hi, I'm using uri_for()/uri_base() in my code, and I've noticed sadly that they ignore the "prefix" settings. While changing this in Dancer1 will wreak havoc :), perhaps this can be improved in Dancer2 ? Simple Example: ====== package uri_for_test; use Dancer ':syntax'; our $VERSION = '0.1'; get '/' => sub { my $url_base = request->uri_base; my $url = request->uri_for("/verify"); print STDERR "URL = $url\n"; print STDERR "URL-BASE = $url_base\n"; template 'index'; }; true; ====== Running it (with ./bin/app.pl) prints (as expected): ====== >> Dancer 1.3090 server 28846 listening on http://0.0.0.0:3000 == Entering the development dance floor ... URL-BASE = http://localhost:3000 URL = http://localhost:3000/verify ====== Then, adding just the "prefix" statement before the "get": === prefix "/foo" ; === Makes the application respond to "http://localhost:3000/foo", but the printed output is still: === URL-BASE = http://localhost:3000 URL = http://localhost:3000/verify === Whereas I would expect it to be: === URL-BASE = http://localhost:3000/foo URL = http://localhost:3000/foo/verify === This makes the "prefix" statement only partially useful, because changing prefix of an entire application/module still requires manually changing all the "uri_for/uri_base" calls. Hooks for Dancer::Continuation::* ???

Good day! I used Dancer of 1.3080 & 1.3090 branches In my routes i use setlocale for changing locales I did a following for example: hook 'before' => sub { $oldLocale = setlocale(LC_ALL); setlocale(LC_ALL, 'ru_RU.UTF-8'); } hook 'after' => sub { setlocale(LC_ALL, $oldLocale); }; And in my routes i use send_error(); send_error throws an continuation exception and my after hook doesn't finish. The on_handler_exception & on_route_exception will not help because their for non continuation exceptions as i understand by view sources. After requests with send_error() i have an other locale for Starman + Dancer process when request in finished. It's bad for me because 1) I want to restore ALWAYS my previous locale AFTER ANY ROUTE; 2) And for other locales i got other number formats in HTTP response headers for example I didn't find any hooks for continuation exceptions. How can i execute my subroutine ALWAYS when any route has finished? Even i use a send_error()... Alexey

send_error requiring return

Hello, After reading the documentation on the 'send_error' function (https://metacpan.org/module/Dancer#send_error) I expected it to work without needing a return: i.e. get '/route1' => sub { send_error "route1 error"; return "value from route1"; }; but I found that i need to use a return with it, like: get '/route2' => sub { return send_error "route2 error"; return "value from route2"; }; Is this an error in documentation, my understanding of documentation or a bug with the software (if so I'll open a bug with test case). I'm using Dancer 1.3080 and I was able to replicate this in the dancer test suite with a new test case. Thanks, Lee

Exception handling

Hi, i'm following http://advent.perldancer.org/2011/6 but i'm a bit confussed, Dancer::Exceptions didn't have "register_exception" neither "does" defined. Also, the documentation at CPAN says "exceptions have no method to call on" I'm using Dancer 1.3080 and I would like to do something like this: register_custom_exception('Test', message_pattern => "Test message: %s" ); ----- use Test::More import => ['!pass'], tests => 1; use Dancer::Exception qw(:all); try { raise Test => "Error!"; } catch { my ($exception) = @_; ok($exception->does('Test'),"Exception"); }; Thanks in advance Angel

running an Apache cgi via Dancer

I might have asked this question earlier, but in any case, here goes again. Hopefully one of knowledgable folks can guide me toward the right path. I have my Dancer app running behind an Apache2 proxy, so when the user goes to `http://server/app`, apache serves content retrieved from `http://127.0.0.1:port/` that is being served by Starman+Dancer. My application also serves maps via Apache+MapServer from `http://server/cgi-bin/mapserv`. In reality, I have not just `/app` but `/app1`, `/app2`, `/app3` and so on. In order to send `/app<n>` specific MapServer information to the cgi program, I have shell script wrappers called `app1`, `app2`, `app3` in my cgi-bin directory. Their content is like so ("app<n>.map" is a "mapfile" for app<n>. There is one for each app). #!/bin/sh MAPSERV="/path/to/punkish/cgi-bin/mapserv" MAPFILE="/path/to/app<n>.map" if [ "${REQUEST_METHOD}" = "GET" ]; then if [ -z "${QUERY_STRING}" ]; then QUERY_STRING="map=${MAPFILE}" else QUERY_STRING="map=${MAPFILE}&${QUERY_STRING}" fi exec ${MAPSERV} else echo "Sorry, I only understand GET requests." fi exit 1 With that background, I now have all my app-specific stuff in my Dancer directory, except this shell script that is in the apache cgi-bin directory. This makes management difficult, and I would like to move these files to the Dancer directory. Except, I haven't been able to figure out how to execute apache cgi-bin programs from Dancer. I tried the following in my app but I get a 502 Proxy Error. # http://server/app/ms get '/ms' => sub { my $MAPSERV = '/path/to/punkish/cgi-bin/mapserv'; my $MAPFILE = '/path/to/app.map'; my $params = params(); my $QUERY_STRING = ""; while (my ($k, $v) = each %$params) { $QUERY_STRING .= "$k=$v"; } $QUERY_STRING .= "&$MAPFILE"; exec("$MAPSERV $QUERY_STRING"); }; In other words, I want to take the /ms route and send it off to Apache to execute (via Apache's cgi interface) and return the content via Dancer. That sounds like I want to use Dancer as a proxy for Apache while Apache is already a proxy for Dancer, but actually, all I want is to store certain files under the Dancer app directory, but let Apache handle them instead of Dancer. a couple of questions re. Plugins

1. Does a plugin have to reside under Dancer::Plugin::MyPlugin? Or, can it be situated anywhere, like, for example, under app/lib? 2. Is it possible to call a method in the application from within MyPlugin? Here is what I mean -- In my app.pm, I have a method called sub opts { } I typically set a bunch of template options in the above sub routine, and use it like so get '/' => sub { my $opts = opts(); template 'index', $opts; }; I am creating plugin that automatically generates a web page like so return engine('template')->apply_layout($content); I would like to run `app::opts()`, and pass the $opts to the template from within the plugin. I am at a loss how to do that. -- Puneet Kishor

getting the routes info for `load_app` loaded apps

I have written a plugin (modeled after Dancer::Plugin::SiteMap) that allows me to create a few standard routes that are available in all applications. For example, by adding my plugin (I call it Dancer::Plugin::Meta), my applications automatically get a route called http://server/app/meta/author which returns the author information set in the config file. This works rather well, and has become a key part of the app (there are other fairly useful routes besides author that get added, such as license, version, and most importantly, a listing of all the routes much like the SiteMap). Now I have an application where sub-applications are loaded using load_app 'app1', prefix -> '/app1'; load_app 'app2', prefix -> '/app2'; This also works rather well, except now my plugin doesn't work. My base app is reachable at `http://server/baseapp` so the following URI works `http://server/baseapp/meta/author` but `http://server/baseapp/app1/meta/author` doesn't work... I get the void. Additionally, while `http://server/baseapp/meta/author` works, `http://server/baseapp/meta/resources` does not work. Normally, /meta/resources returns a listing of all the resources, but now I get the following error "Serializer (Dancer::Serializer::JSON) failed at serializing HASH(0x7f9ae4696f00):\nencountered object '(?^:^\\/baseapp(?:\\/)?$)', but neither allow_blessed nor convert_blessed settings are enabled at /opt/local/lib/perl5/site_perl/5.14.1/JSON.pm line 154.\n" Would appreciate any guidance on how to retrieve all the URIs for the app loaded using load_app and resolving the above errors. -- Puneet Kishor

No more collisions of routes with multiple Dancer(1) apps!

Hello All, I made a changes for Dancer1! Please to see pull request of https://github.com/sukria/Dancer/pull/703 I added new option to config: routes_per_app If it is true in config routes will be work only for applications where i its defined. If not true - it works as worked before (backward compatible) I wrote a test for it All tests are passed Now i will test it in my real project If i will find a some bugs i will notice you Best regards, Perlover P.S.
