Anyway the topic starter mentioned RedHat, the kernel version must be quite
ancient there :)
RedHat is funny. They used kernel 2.6.32 for a long while, back-porting security fixes and namespace (vitualization) improvements. Goal: be Stable and Current both at the same time. Recently (2014) they jumped to 3.10.
