Hi, i want to capture STDOUT under my Dancer applications with package Capture:: Tiny. Dancer::Plugin::FlashMessage and Dancer2

Hello, I am trying to port an application from Dancer1 to Dancer2, but I have not been able to make FlashMessage work. I took the code from github, from the branch topic/Dancer2 but several strange things happen when I include it. For starters, the before_template_render hook does not appear in the debug messages that show as the app initializes (with DANCER_CORE_DEBUG set) and it is never run. Most importantly, under some circumstances the app returns a new, fresh session loosing whatever was in the old one (which remains in disk, but the key is lost). I put the simplest code in https://gist.github.com/4710740. Note that it must be run with the topic/Dancer2 branch of FlashMessage. Try running /logout without logging in; a second session appears. Is this something that you can reproduce? Am I doing something wrong? Not the least, thank you all for such hard work on Dancer and the whole ecosystem. I use FlashMessage for the other little apps I've written and it works very nice. Julio Fraire

"halt" not setting content-type?

Dancer 1.3110, Perl 5.10.1 (Debian stable), Apache 2.2.16, mod_fastcgi. When I call from a route: halt $some_html; I'm getting back the unrendered HTML as text/plain, not text/html. This only happens when I'm using mod_fastcgi (with FastCgiExternalServer). When I just run "./app.pl", I get my rendered text/html. When I run "plackup ./app.pl", I get text/html. This only happens from "halt". If I use "return", I get text/html. Am I doing something wrong? I did try looking through the Dancer source to see how this works. I am over my head at this point (not a programmer by trade), but I wonder if perhaps "halt" isn't setting the content-type on the response object it creates. I manually created a Dancer::Response object and called $response->content_type("text/html") on it, passed that to "halt", and got text/html. Of course, none of that explains why FastCGI does one thing and the built-in server does something else. I'm working around it by creating my own Dancer::Response objects. Scope of modules and 'use' directives

I'm developing a Dancer app with the setup outlined below (ie. modules 'use'-ing other modules) but I'm confused about when to 'use' various modules and Perl version statements. My config.yml has Template Toolkit selected so my first question is do I need to specify 'use Template' in each module that uses the 'template()' call or is that all taken care of once the config has been specified. If it is taken care of, does that apply to all the 'nested' modules? Next, do I need to specify 'use Dancer qw(:syntax)' in every module which makes use of Dancer functions? Again with 'use 5.014' - in every module or is once enough in the App::Routes module, for example? Using Google Calendar in my app

Hi Dancers, I'm planning for a website with event calendars and online registration and payment for these events. Event providers, will register their events, and my site's home page will aggregate all of these events into a single calendar, as well as providing access to individual calendars. >From the YouTube videos I saw, Google Calendar appears to supply much or all of the functionality I need. I also see that Net::Google::Calendar provides an API to access all this goodness from my from my Dancer application. I'd like viewers to be able to click on an event (such as a public workshop) displayed in an embedded Google Calendar on the site, and go to a page that I will provide with more information and a button to register. Is that what Net::Google::Calendar::WebContent provides? Assuming yes, here is my second question: I'm thinking of giving users two options for creating their calendar content: 1) Create and manage their calendar through their own Google account, so my website will just pull in that content. 2) For those who *don't* have a Google account, provide forms for them to manage their events. In that case the calendars would be created under my own Google account (i.e. MyWebsite(a)gmail.com) In case (2), I can easily add a link to a calendar entry to a registration page. For case (1) since I will not have write access to these user's personal calendars, one approach would be to make a copy of each user's calendar in MyWebsite(a)gmail.com. Having done that, I can use Net::Google::Calendar::Entry's add_link method to provide access to the online registration form. That means I will have to periodically sync all of the calendar copies with the original source. Could there be a better way to handle this? Note, that I've also looked at most of the other families of calendar modules on CPAN, however Google Calendar seems to be nearest to the functionality I want to provide, and also fairly straightforward to use via N::G::C. I'd be interested to know if I'm missing anything important before I get too deep. Thanks, Joel -- Joel Roth

Advice needed in designing setup for dancer app,

HI, I currently have a VM with /data directory to do whatsoever I want to run the dancer application, then this vm will be cloned to another 2 and all three will serve the site with 2 more serving as dev and staging, my plan is to do the following, all directories prefixed with /data /www => actual dancer application code, /perl5/lib/perl5 => perl modules and core dancer code. /apps => install tools like monit, nginx etc. /source => raw source code for the above. then this /data will be either mounted or whole vm would be cloned to other boxes. I would like know whether this setup I came up with is sensible one and if someone has any suggestions to improve, please shed some light to me. Two new SessionFactories on CPAN: Cookie and MongoDB

I've implemented two non-core SessionFactories for use with Dancer 2 and released them to CPAN: * Dancer::SessionFactory::Cookie * Dancer::SessionFactory::MongoDB If I get a chance, I'll attempt to whip up one or two more simple ones to give people a sense of what's involved, and then motivated people with expertise on other backends can jump in and help out. Deployment Question

Hi All, I currently have a dancer app in development deployed via Apache using Plack::Handler::Apache2 I know that the docs state "Only a single Dancer application can be deployed using the Plack::Handler::Apache2 method. Multiple Dancer applications *will not work properly" * However, I have additional virtualhosts on the same server and some of them run under mod_perl (some just mp::perlrun). When using the Plack::Handler, these other mod_perl applications are broken. Is this known to affect other mod perl applications as well? Is this something that will be addressed in Dancer2? Thanks for any input. I'm loving dancer so far...

Dancer::Plugin::Database socket:?

Hello I have a development environment which creates individual instances of mysql for each development "camp". To connect to these instances I declare typical connection information but I don't see how to set the option to set non standard socket location 'mysql_socket' for the plugin. Is there a trick for this, future support? Thanks
