Serializer for Dancer2

Hi, I’ve been using serializer: "JSON" in my config.yml with no issues in Dancer2. Today I updated Dancer2 to the latest and now the pages come out blank. If I comment out the serializer line, things seem to return to normal (i.e. the pages render) - but my AJAX requests break. I’m not sure exactly what the last version of Dancer2 I was using. I also tested with the out of box app: dancer2 -a MyApp && cd MyApp plackup ./bin/app.pl -p 5000 -I lib If I add the serializer line to the config.yml it breaks (i.e. nothing page), otherwise it works. The error in the log file is (from my app): [project::WebApp:85745] core @2014-12-20 15:14:16> Failed to serialize the request: hash- or arrayref expected (not a simple scalar, use allow_nonref to allow this) at /perf/perl/lib/perl5/JSON.pm line 154. in (eval 754) l. 2 Regards, Matt

Dancer2::Plugin::Auth::Extensible

Cookies alway sent in Dancer 2 ?

Hi, I am not sure if I am seeing correctly, so I'd like to ask that someone will confirm this for me. (I am using 0.157000 ) I created an empty app using dancer2 -a Added session time => time; to the main route and launched the application. Made sure neither configuration file has session : enabled. When I visit http://0.0.0.0:3000/ its sends me a cookie but does not save the file. I think if the session: is off then application should never send a cookie. Can someone please check if it really sends a cookie or if I am misreading something here. Gabor

Hi (), with the progress of my converting the Perl Maven site to use Dancer 2 I wonder, are there any other open source projects that have been converted to Dancer 2? Anything that has been written from scratch using Dancer 2? Are there any non-open source projects that you could mention in public? Migrating (of the Perl Maven site) from Dancer 1 to Dancer2

I have started to migrate the Perl Maven site from Dancer 1 to Dancer 2. As you could see from my previous message I got stuck very quickly with the Dancer2::Plugin::Passphrase module, but I have not given up hope yet. I hope that Sawyer will soon do whatever he needs to do so Henk can fix the module, but in the meantime I try to make progress without that module. I have also started to describe my experience on the site: http://perlmaven.com/migrating-from-dancer-to-dancer2 and will update that as I make progress. I've also submitted two pull requests with some documentation updates that might, or might not be correct. I'd appreciate the attention of the core developers. Gabor

Having a weekly release (which is a new habit we're trying to maintain) means we will usually not have big changes to report. We're happy about that. D1 => D2 Regex route is not anchored any more

I just found an issue with my D1 => D2 migration that broke the Perl Maven site. I think I managed to fix it but I'd like to clarify this: I used to have a route handler like this: get qr{/pro/(.*)} => sub { my ($path) = splat; return $path; }; In D1 this was matching only routes that started with /pro As if there was an implicit ^ at the beginning of the route. Now, in D2, it will match anywhere so it started to match URLs such as /media/pro/file I could fix this by adding an explicit caret to the beginning of the regex: get qr{^/pro/(.*)} => sub { my ($path) = splat; return $path; }; Please confirm if this is really the case or if I just had some other issues? I think this should be added to the migration document with the recommended solution. Could I have solved this with the "prefix" keyword? How? Cannot instal Dancer2-Plugin-Passphrase-v2.0.4 - No DSL object found

So I decided I'll try to migrate the code behind the Perl Maven site from Dancer to Dancer2 First thing was to install Dancer2 which went fine. D1 => D2 from_yaml has changed

I used to have this code: sub read_sites { open my $fh, '<encoding(UTF-8)', mymaven->{root} . '/sites.yml' or return {}; my $yaml = do { local $/ = undef; <$fh> }; from_yaml $yaml; } where sites.yml is this file: https://github.com/szabgab/perlmaven.com/blob/main/sites.yml That worked well. Now it returns undef and does not evan complain about not being able to convert my yaml string to perl data structure. ================= I see that in D1 from_yaml was this code: YAML::Load($content); In D2 it is now this code: YAML::Load(decode('UTF-8', $content)); So I wonder, was I doing it all wrong earlier, but it worked because of the (mis)feature of Dancer? Should I refrain from using from_yaml at all for data I read in myself? What was the recommended approach here for D1 and what is it for D2? Gabor ps. Now that I saw this code, I am going to convert it to Path::Tiny, but I think the reason I have not used it earlier was that the 'path' function of that module and the 'path' function of Dancer would clash.
