Using persistent DB connections in Dancer::Tutorial

If I rewrite connect_db as: my $dbh; sub connect_db { if (! defined $dbh) { $dbh = DBI->connect("dbi:SQLite:dbname=".setting('database')) or die $DBI::errstr; } return $dbh; } will the application use a single connection for all connections under all perl webservers (in-built, mod_perl, Starman, Twiggy etc.). If that is true, a line to that effect in an appropriate place in the tutorial would emphasize the persistent features of the solution. Also, are any hooks run when the application instance is destroyed? If there are, implementing a graceful closing of open DB connection(s) might provide a valuable lesson in the Tutorial. Thank you.

Testing Forms

I am wondering how I can write tests for forms (WWW::Mechanize maybe?). I was thinking dancer_response (Dancer::Test) would be what I want, but being new to testing and Dancer I am not sure how to test forms. What I want to test is form creation, form submitting (failing/success) and redirects after failing/success. Is there anything else I missed that should also be tested? Jonathan

Looking at dispatch.fcgi ... it has the same "problem". So I imagine that is an assumption that "dancer" is making when creating the skeleton structure. Robert

header does not seem to work correctly in all cases.

Hi there, I have some trouble getting 'header' / 'headers' to work. Also, I would like to set (cache-control) headers on CSS and JS files delivered from /public/ if possible, to reduce page load times (jQuery + Highcharts + jQueryUI slow things down :-). I will not be able to improve the whole document a lot more since I don't understand enough. Obviously, this can get untenable very quickly as the application becomes complex. The obvious solution is to generate the template and the JavaScript on the server side, thereby having to declare all the names in just one place. I have recently learned of the Perl module Jemplate that might enable me to do this. But before I commit any cycles to it, I want to know how the other Dancers handle something like this. Cookie handling

Hi Folks, At the moment, if my cookie value contains = or ; I have take care to escape them myself - e.g. set_cookie 'msg' => 'Hello;World' just emits Set-Cookie: msg=Hello;World; path=/; HttpOnly The browser of course ignores World and I get just msg=Hello as the cookie. 1. Shouldn't set_cookie be URI encoding the value automatically? 2. It'll also be nice if the value of the cookie could be a hash reference which I could serialize/deserialize from the cookie - or do you think this really belongs to Dancer::Session::Cookie?
