Using TT's WRAPPER directive

Hi, Congratulations for the launch of Dancer2 on CPAN. I am trying to use it, but I couldn't find on POD docs the answer to a problem I found, regarding the WRAPPER directive on TT templates. I need to use different wrappers for different templates, and Template-toolkit allows using a directive like: [% WRAPPER wrapper1.tt %] ... [% END %] It also allows defining some variables to be used in the wrapper template using: [% title="The title"; WRAPPER wrapper1.tt %] ... [% END %] But I've found that if I use the directive WRAPPER in a Dancer2 application, it gives the error: Internal Server Error file error - parse error - D:\apps\web\MD\views\index.tt line 1: unexpected token (WRAPPER) [% WRAPPER wrapper.tt %] If I use the layout key in the config file, I can use the wrapper, but this way it is possible to use just a single wrapper and I can't associate different wrappers to different templates (but only if I define a layout in config file and add exceptions in the application code). Is it possible in some other way to define in templates the wrapper they use? And I also don't know if it is possible to define variables in templates and pass them to be displayed in the wrapper. Is it possible to do this, or I will need to define those vars in the code? I have also tried to do the following in the config: #layout: "main" template: "template_toolkit" engines: template_toolkit: WRAPPER: layouts/wrapper ENCODING: 'utf8' start_tag: '[%' end_tag: '%]' But the content of the wrapper was not displayed at all. Dancer2 visibility

After reading this http://blog.sukria.net/2013/02/18/dancer-1-and-dancer-2-what-were-going-to-… I was a bit surprised to find that on the site http://perldancer.org/ there isn't much mention of Dancer 2. Why is that? I think it would be helpful to make sure people know what's on offer so that if they're new to Dancer they get off on the right foot, so to speak:)

Dancer 2 talk in Cluj.pm meeting

Hey everyone. I was invited to come to Cluj.pm's monthly meeting in Romania on March 21st and give a few talks. One subject that kept coming up is Dancer. People are interested in it very much, and with the release of Dancer 2*, they're getting anxious to know more about it. For this reason I've decided to give a 20 minute talk on Dancer (while focusing on Dancer 2). I will also be giving my lightning talk of "CGI.PM MUST DIE", which you might be familiar with. You may be interested in the talk descriptions: Dance Dance (Perl) Revolution (20 min) --- With the release of Dancer 2, one of the more refreshing and fun projects to come out of the Perl community, I will be giving you a primer on a web framework that is light, fast, fun, and stays out of your way! If you've heard of Dancer, but haven't gotten around to using it, this talk is for you. If you haven't heard of Dancer, but are interested in web programming, this talk is for you. Dancer2::Plugin discussion (issue 184)

Hello, In my quest to port an app to Dancer2, I stumbled with problems in Dancer2::Plugin. The issues arise because plugins don't really have access to the app (hooks, in particular) that is using them except when they are being imported. I put together a Dancer2::Plugin substitute that basically declares hooks and keywords while the plugin is being imported into a calling app, using its dsl. It also creates a plugin object to hold its registered keywords, hooks it provides and any hooks that the plugin needs to have run externally (like during template rendering). Without singletons. This Dancer2::Plugin does not pass all the tests. It fails when plugins try to do "dancer things" outside of hooks and registered words, because there is no dsl to support them. Some test suite plugin for which this thing fails declares routes, for example, in the global scope. However, with this construction and after slight modifications (changing Dancer to Dancer2, eliminating plugin_args which is not needed after the namespace split) I got an equivalent to Dancer::Plugin::FlashMessage and Dancer::Plugin::Database working. Dancer2 template engines and config

Tere! I tried to ask same question at IRC too, but got no answers. I try add some bits more here. I like D:T:Xslate template engine and am trying to convert it to Dancer2. I have trouble understanding some points how template engines should get data from config file. When i look 3 default templates, they all rely on $self->config but $self->config carries only two attributes in: environment and location. And those 2 are not from config-file. When i tried to change defaults of template_toolkit plugin in config file, they did not worked. I tried to change start_tag and end_tag, but defaults overrun them and from code i see, that alternative tags are looked from $self->config->{'start_tag'}. Which are not available through $self->config. Some days ago i got suggestion from racke to look toward $self->context->app->config. Yes, this is possible, but i have not seen it in default engines. And to get config into, one should write something like $self->context->app->config->{engines}{template_toolkit}. It seems a bit complicated. Should this be the official/idiomatic way to get config for template? -- Wbr, Kõike hääd, Gunnar

Dancer1/2 plugin interoperability

G'day, This is probably a very obvious question, but here goes: What's the situation regarding plugin interoperability between D1 and 2? I know that, before Dancer and Dancer2 were separated, interoperability of plugins between both major versions was a major point -- D:P:SiteMap comes to mind -- but since the divide, I'm a bit fuzzy what the rules are regarding plugin compatibility. If I were to grab a D1 plugin (e.g. Dancer::Plugin::Auth::Extensible) and add it into my shiny new D2 app, will it work? Will it catch fire? Moreover, _should_ it work? Problem with my plugin installing hooks (Dancer2)

I've made a plugin, which installs a hook, with: hook 'before' => sub {...} Unfortunately, when I use this plugin from more than one Apps, the hook gets installed only on the first App that uses my module. Question: Is it possible to install the hook to every App that uses the module?

A problem with the "cookie" keyword

The "cookie" keyword right now returns a Dancer2::Core::Cookie object. I think it would be better if it returned the value (or values in list context) of the cookie directly, or undef if no such cookie is available. That is what the documentation in https://github.com/PerlDancer/Dancer2/blob/dave/doc-overhaul/lib/Dancer2/Ma… describes. I also think it would be best if you ppl fixed this as soon as possible, because it will break compatibility and users will have to edit their code, so the sooner the better (and the fewer people will have to edit their code). Is it necessary to "use Plugin" in every module where I want to use the plugin's new keywords?

Couldn't we make it so, that if you include the plugin in config.yml, then you get its keywords everywhere where we just "use Dancer"? Please? Code would then be a lot cleaner and shorter.
