Hi there, I am very glad and proud to announce here that I've came up with a prototype of dancer2 that pleases me enough to be advertised. -*- https://github.com/sukria/dancer2 -*- dancer2 is a complete rewrite of Dancer aiming at providing the same awesomeness with the following major changes: - no more globals in the core - 100% object-oriented backend (based on Moo) - better scoping for sub-applications - better design (no more encapsulation violations, Law of Demeter, ...) The prototype I've pushed to GitHub currently covers ~80% of the DSL of Dancer. It's able to run simple applications (it can run the PerlDancer.org website for instance). Of course, with your real-life applications, it will break in many places in this current shape, and this is where you can help. I'd like to have as many reports as possible regarding upgrades tests. You can test very easily your app with dancer2: $ git clone http://github.com/sukria/dancer2.git $ cd YOUR_APP $ perl -I../dancer2/lib bin/app.pl Also, important to know: most of the plugins may not be working well. Saving/Emailing debug information on "die" in production

Hello dancers, When a dancer app die()'s in development mode, a detailed runtime error page is generated (with stack trace, config values, session values, environment values, etc.). In production mode, obviously such information should not be shown to the user - but is there a way to save the information to a file, or better yet - email it to someone ? Is that a Dancer module, or Plack middle-ware, or something else ? Thanks, -gordon

Session lookup and takeover

Hello, fellow Dancers! I'm working on a XML-RPC API similar to Magento's for my Perl based cart Nitesi. The first request to the API is a login, which is checked by my account management. The user id, email and other account information is saved to the session and the session id is returned by the API response. On subsequent requests the session id is provided as token so the API backend knows that the request is authenticated. So how can I retrieve a session by session id and use it as current session? Any kind of feedback would be helpful :-). Dancer::Plugin::Email major refactor

I have done a major refactor of Dancer::Plugin::Email which uses Email::Sender instead of Email::Stuff. Email::Stuff is built on Email::Send which is deprecated in favor of Email::Sender. THIS IS A BREAKING CHANGE. I tried my best to keep the interface the same (email { ... }), but the configuration has changed drastically. I have currently only made a dev release: https://metacpan.org/release/IRONCAMEL/Dancer-Plugin-Email-0.1300_02 Soon I will make a proper release. At that point, people upgrading Dancer::Plugin::Email may need to update their code or things will break and people will be sad. Please let me know if you try it and run into any issues, or if there are any features of the old plugin that you are currently using that did not make it into the new version. Conditionally defining routes (and keywords) in a plugin?

Hey, all, I have been working on an overhaul of Dancer::Plugin::Facebook. To allow it to be more generally useful, but as lightweight as possible, I would like to make certain choices as to what to make available, or how to do so, based on the plugin configuration. For instance, if the application doesn't intend to act on the user's behalf, then we should be able to use a single Facebook::Graph object, rather than regenerating it each request, or the application may not care for any information that requires authorization, so there's no need to create a postback handler, etc. So is it reasonable to consider doing something like: package Dancer::Plugin::Facebook; use Dancer; use Dancer::Plugin; register setup_fb => sub { if (plugin_setting->{auth}) { get "/auth/fb" => sub { ... } } # I think I need to do this again register_plugin; if (plugin-setting->{user}) { register fb => sub { Facebook::Graph->new ($config) } } else { my $fb = Facebook::Graph->new ($config) register fb => sub () { $fb } } } register_plugin; ... package MyApp; use Dancer use Dancer::Plugin::Facebook; setup_fb; or is this going to work at best by accident? Opening multiple database connections after startup

My app needs to connect to multiple databases (currently: 1 PostgreSQL + 2 Redis), and I would like it to do this as soon as possible after startup. However, due to Dancer's cached-coderef design, it is not trivial to do this immediately after forking (as far as I know). My current solution is this: sub init_connections { $dbh = connect_to_dbh(); $redis_0 = connect_to_redis_0(); $redis_1 = connect_to_redis_1(); return 1; } sub before { $connected ||= init_connections; } This works fine, but if there are any connection problems, I don't find out immediately. So I tried coding the app to connect to itself, like this: sub init_connections { ... connect_to_self(); return 1; } But of course, my first experiment resulted in a loop! I wonder if I am approaching this the right way. Before I spend much more time on this, does anyone have any thoughts / experience on this problem? -- Alex

Hi If I run the code below as a perl script, the script does make a ssh connection,login and run a command. If I run the same code in a dancer get route, the login works. But after the login, the session output shows up in den terminal where I started dancer and not in the virtual tty. Insert SMS messages in a db

I have a Dancer app backed by a Postgres database. I want registered users to be able to SMS a photo and some accompanying explanatory text and have it be inserted into the database so it can be viewed on the web site. This would be much like how one can send Tweet and have it appear on Twitter. What parts do I need to assemble the above contraption?
