Hi there, I am very glad and proud to announce here that I've came up with a prototype of dancer2 that pleases me enough to be advertised. -*- https://github.com/sukria/dancer2 -*- dancer2 is a complete rewrite of Dancer aiming at providing the same awesomeness with the following major changes: - no more globals in the core - 100% object-oriented backend (based on Moo) - better scoping for sub-applications - better design (no more encapsulation violations, Law of Demeter, ...) The prototype I've pushed to GitHub currently covers ~80% of the DSL of Dancer. It's able to run simple applications (it can run the PerlDancer.org website for instance). Of course, with your real-life applications, it will break in many places in this current shape, and this is where you can help. I'd like to have as many reports as possible regarding upgrades tests. You can test very easily your app with dancer2: $ git clone http://github.com/sukria/dancer2.git $ cd YOUR_APP $ perl -I../dancer2/lib bin/app.pl Also, important to know: most of the plugins may not be working well. Dancer::Plugin::SQLSearch

Hola amigos! I have uploaded Dancer::Plugin::SQLSearch to CPAN, which is aimed to help with the creation of simple search pages. Basically, it will take a search query and turn it into a data structure suitable for SQL::Abstract. You then supply a subroutine that takes this data structure and performs the actual search in your database. >From the plugin (and your search routine) you get the first page of results and information to build pagination links. It also saves some info in the session object to offer "back to search results" links for your destination pages. Hopefully the documentation is clear enough for you to play with this little plugin; the tests should offer some insight as well. I hope you find it useful. Happy new year, Julio Fraire

Problem with Dancer::Plugin::Ajax under Plack

I am trying to run multiple Dancer apps under Plack, One of my routes is an "ajax" route using Dancer::Plugin::Ajax My $app inside the psgi file is defined as: my $app = sub { local $ENV{DANCER_APPDIR} = 'MyAppDir'; setting appdir => 'MyAppDir'; load_app "MyApp"; Dancer::App->set_running_app('MyApp'); Dancer::Config->load; my $request = Dancer::Request->new( env => $env ); Dancer->dance($request); }; Unfortunately, the "ajax" route is not recognised and it gives me a 404 However I find that when I add Dancer::Handler->init_request_headers($env); in the sub, the Ajax route works fine. Dancer::Handler docs are not available and I need to understand why this works Would appreciate if someone could explain Thank you

Simple Dancer OO approach.

Simple Dancer OO approach. The idea is simple -- we need to defer route handler declaration. It could be done with re-definition Dancer DSL words like get, post, any, etc. It's done in Dancer::OO::Dancer module. Deferred declarations are stored in package _handler array variable. This approach allows to define and use common handlers and to write extendable modules that could be mounted to later declared uris. To use this deferred technique package must be inherited from Dancer::OO::Object package, which sole purpose is to install deffered handlers. It does so by building inheritnance tree and calling Dancer::* methods with obvious alterations. Handlers are installed to prefixed routes, thus limiting the route syntax to simple strings. D::P::Database: Changing Databases dynamically between routes

Hi, I am trying to use Dance::Plugin::Database with SQLite in a situation where different databases must be connected to in different routes. For example: get route_1 => sub { my $dbfile_1 = "..."; my $dbh = database({ driver: 'SQLite', database => $dbfile_1, .... Other Options }); ... Work with $dbh } get route_2 => sub { my $dbfile_2 = "..."; my $dbh = database({ driver: 'SQLite', database => $dbfile_2, .... Other Options }); ... Work with $dbh } My Config file contains: plugins: Database: driver: 'SQLite' Since I dont know what the database is going to be I dont have the database setting here (probably incorrect, but I dont know any better) After a few routes I begin to get this error: Can't connect to data source 'dbi:SQLite' because I can't work out what driver to use (it doesn't seem to contain a 'dbi:driver:' prefix and the DBI_DRIVER env var is not set) at /home/nandan/perl5/perlbrew/perls/perl-5.14.2/lib/site_perl/5.14.2/Dancer/Plugin/Database.pm line 163 Could you suggest the correct way to set the database dynamically in each route? Hi, I was wondering about the issues using a shared variable in a single App.pm file. Here is what I mean: package App.pm my $var; // Initialize $var; ..... Route1 => sub { // Modify $var ... } Route2 => sub { // Use $var ... } I first call Route1 then when I call Route 2, I expect that I will have the modified value (by Route 1) of $var in route 2. Unfortunately I get an undefined value for $var. Can someone more experienced than I, see if I am doing something obviously incorrect? Thank you Regards.
