Thanks, Patrick. Part of my trouble was wanting to use the same text file for all folders, or rather the same SSI instruction. I've set up a second text file for all sub folders since they need a different src. I had the alt lesson hammered into me some time back on wdvltalk ;-)! I'll eventually catch up where I've missed it.
Just i n the process of changing all pages, and will work out how to simply the template approach, which I am halfway to - but so I was some years ago!
Thanks for all help. I had remembered more than I expected, but not enough. And there seems less information on the web now.
